Feature Films : Korean Cinema This year, Fantasia presents sixteen South Korean films that have received acclaim and prizes around the world. Growing fast, South Korean cinema is no longer considered just a part of “Asian cinema.” In recent years, it has become its own distinct national cinema with an important role in the world of international filmmaking. Until it began looking inward just a few years ago, the South Korean film industry was one of the top four buyers of Hollywood films. South Koreans are now interested in producing their own films and exporting them around the world. In South Korea, these films have held top ranking at the box office for several years.
