This year at Fantasia, independent film director, Lloyd Kaufman, himself presented a condensed version of his renowned Make Your Own Damn Movie Master Class presentation, an informative, interactive and highly entertaining crash course on filmmaking, aimed at anyone who’s ever wanted to make movies but didn’t have the cash. Using real-life examples from his 30 years of experience in the business, Kaufman’s presentation illustrated the whole independent filmmaking process, from conception to completion. A sold-out crowd attended his presentation and received a special treat since Kaufman's infamous Toxic Avenger was shown after his presentation. Acclaimed directors such as Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino, Spain's Álex de la Iglesia (Day of the Beast), and Japan's Takashi Miike (Dead or Alive) have all cited The Toxic Avenger as a major influence.
