Welcome back to the crazy world of DJ XL5! Get ready for another wildly eclectic, playful, irreverent and ever-entertaining ride. Those who already saw Zappin’ Party Extravaganza, International Zappin’ Party and Retro Zappin’ Party know exactly what to expect: an over-the-top succession of 2D and 3D animation, stop-motion animation, live-action shorts, re-cut/mashed-up trailers and eccentric sampled images, assembled together in a psychotronic fashion.

This year’s program features Dominique Pinon, Lloyd Kaufman, Ewen Bremner, Lance Henriksen, Don Hertzfeldt’s latest tour de force, Dick Fuckin’ Cheney, Foamy the neurotic squirrel, Dead Cat Films’s return to Star Wars – The Sitcom, an adaptation of one of Tim Burton’s illustrated poems from “The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories,” and a special tribute to the genius of Bruno Bozzetto.

DJ XL5 is a local multimedia artist whose short -film programs have traveled across Canada to several film festivals, repertory theatres and other film events. In 2006, DJ XL5 also created DJ XL5’s Midnite Zappin’ Party and a short entitled 16-33-45-78, and is currently co-directing his first documentary.

In between the shorts, the creators have placed little nuggets of strangeness: weird, late night commercials salvaged from old VHS tapes; snippets of goofy Indian music videos; obscure and puzzling movie clips.
