Bryan Lee O’Malley’s guitar-slinging Canadian comic book hero Scott Pilgrim came into the world in 2004, and after a series of five award-winning graphic novels (and a 6th debuting on July 20th) Scott Pilgrim makes his big screen debut with Canuck cult actor Michael Cera in the lead, Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright at the helm, and a cast that includes Kieran Culkin, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and indie favourite Jason Schwartzman!
Scott Pilgrim is a 23-year-old slacker in Toronto who lives with a sarcastic gay roommate, plays in a rock band (whose songs are written by Beck), and passes his time with video games (he’ll become the subject of his own video game later this summer also, from local company Ubisoft!), and dating underage high school girls.
Scott’s never had trouble with the ladies – but when the winsome Ramona Flowers enters his life, he faces a romantic challenge unlike any other: to win the heart of the rollerblading Ramona, he must first defeat her seven deadly exes (as well as a few of his own!)
We are excited beyond words for this screening, and more than a little stoked that it’s shamelessly Canadian to the max . With Montrealer Jay Baruchel heading up opening film THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE, and SCOTT PILGRIM coming in at the festival’s tail end, the Canadians are representing in a major way at this year’s event!

This is an awesome surprise. Is this a world premiere? I haven’t heard of any other advance screenings of the movie before its theatrical release in August.
Don’t forget to buy all the volumes of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels. The final volume (Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour: volume 6) comes out July 20, 2010!
